Description
What are we learning from the world’s largest coral reef shark survey? In this next edition of LIVE@Frost Science, the museum will welcome molecular ecologist Dr. Demian Chapman, a lead scientist behind Global FinPrint, the world’s largest reef shark and ray survey. Dr. Chapman, an associate professor at Florida International University, is an internationally recognized shark expert and has published papers on shark genetics, virgin births, the shark fin trade, and shark tracking, among other topics. Global FinPrint was launched in 2015 as the first global survey of its kind, deploying baited remote underwater video stations (BRUVS) to learn more about the worldwide status of sharks on coral reefs and to identify new opportunities for their conservation.
