In 1985, the great American dancer Edward Villella agreed to create a ballet company for South Florida. A year later, Miami City Ballet – 19 dancers strong – gave its first performance. Today, MCB is recognized as one of the world’s leading ballet companies with 50 dancers, a Balanchine repertory second only in size to New York City Ballet and an extensive range of both 19th century classics and modern works by celebrated choreographers including Twyla Tharp, Paul Taylor and Jerome Robbins.
Miami City Ballet is now celebrating its 25th Anniversary Season!
