Arts, Culture, and Education is the premise behind the Miami Beach Education Foundation’s upcoming Wyland Art Mural Project. World renowned artist, Wyland, famous for his beautiful marine life art and a true advocate when it comes to marine resource conservation, will be coming to the City of Miami Beach to participate in a mural project on Lincoln Road with students from the six elementary schools in Miami Beach as well as students from the FIU Arts & Architecture School.
The participating students will not only have an opportunity to paint with Wyland, but also be provided education in regards to the importance of water conservation and our oceans. This project is a once in a lifetime opportunity as Wyland has agreed to donate his time to participate and support the advancement of education in the Miami Beach community.
In addition to the May art project, during the months of March and April, the students will participate in art and science projects to assist in Wyland’s National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation, which will take place during the month of April around the country. The culmination press conference will be held in Miami Beach during the week of the art mural project and Wyland will announce the wining cities.
The goal of the project is to raise money to be donated back to the Miami Beach Education Foundation, the Chamber’s 501c3 which raises money to provide scholarships for Beach High Students and programming money for the International Bachelorette Programs in the City of Miami Beach, as well the City of Miami Beach Cultural Arts Council and the Wyland Foundation. Opportunities include the sale of the 10x45 canvas produced by Wyland and the students as well as through production of limited edition lithographs of the original Wyland Design.
We are excited and proud to work with Wyland and his Foundation – with the hopes that more of our children will nurture their artistic talents, and learn the important lessons of conservation. These sensibilities will continue to preserve and enhance positive values in our community- art and conservation, without which the future of our planet is not possible!
