The Mimo Biscayne Association, the non-profit organization whose mission is to protect and promote MiMo Biscayne Boulevard, will present a forum about their vision for Miami’s MiMo Historic Boulevard. MiMo Board members will discuss their work program spanning six years to improve conditions on the Boulevard and create a “walkable Village” between 61st and 77th Streets in Miami.
The MiMo Boulevard was designated a local historic district on June 6, 2006. The MiMo Association was formed in January, 2007 and has labored since then to put the important ingredients in place that will enhance the twenty-seven block linear district – the only locally designated commercial street in the City of Miami.
The speakers will describe the steps taken by the Association for the past 7 years to educate the public about the value of becoming an historic district, and the legislation that had to be enacted to make the Boulevard come alive. The MiMo Association thinks of the Boulevard as a “roadway that transects an important historic neighborhood”.
