Description
In May, the Art Festival will open with a jazz concert (Echo Jazz) and an outdoor screening of ?Happy Cricket? in May 18th. To enliven the festivities, the North Shore Park and Youth Center will welcome more than twenty different artists during the week end of May 19-20: some will teach the children during the week end?s Art workshops, some will exhibit their work, others will donate their time and support the workshops. To appeal to the neighborhood children with varied interests, these workshops will focus on diverse topics including : yoga, martial arts, mural painting, instruments discovery, puppet show, aerial dance, hip hop, story telling and traditional dances from Bangladesh. Throughout the festival, there will be occasions for the participants to be on stage. ?We also wanted to give the teens of North Shore Park the opportunity to be on stage, not only in their Park but also at the Byron Carlyle so they can realize how different it is to perform on a real stage? says Isabelle Landman. The teen agers will indeed perform two times with their play called ?Streets?. The manager of the cultural activities for teenagers, Willie Priegues wrote the play and adapted it to the team of teens.
