Located on US 41 (Tamiami Trail), residents and visitors will finally have the opportunity to experience the wonder of the Big Cypress Swamp and learn why it is so vital to the future of Florida and an area of world concern. Scheduled to open in February, 2010, the Big Cypress Welcome Center will tell the story of the Big Cypress, sketch its history and describe its wildlife for an estimated 250,000 visitors a year. You May Wish to Play a Role The Welcome Center will house half a million dollars worth of educational exhibits that will instill in the children the knowledge and desire to be the future force that ensures the perpetuity of this amazing gem. The SFNPT, an independent 501(c)(3) organization (MailFilterGateway has detected a possible fraud attempt from "et.ratepoint.com" claiming to be http://www.southfloridaparks.org) has embarked on a fundraising campaign to complete this formidable educational project. The Trust is seeking to raise $250,000 of the $500,000 to pay for the new exhibits. It is this commitment that is the impetus behind the upcoming event at the Deering Estate on November 5th. By supporting the Big Cypress Swamp Welcome Center and its mission of education, you can promote a legacy of stewardship in South Florida and help to ensure the Big Cypress will be protected for generations to come. Meet the Superintendent of Big Cypress National Preserve. Converse with the chief biologist of Everglades National Park with a special appearance by one of the pythons that are thriving inside the park. See up close the renderings of the exhibits. A raffle for a coveted work of art by Clyde Butcher, South Florida?s most accomplished nature photographer. Refreshments including fine wines by ArgenVine. ?The Big Cypress Swamp is one of the last pristine wilderness areas in Florida.
