Description
Coffee and conversation with fellow members and MBCC President, Wendy Kallergis
Miami Design Preservation League sponsored an en plein air competition in early June that brought South Florida artists to Miami Beach to paint for one day in the outdoors. Miami Beach: Beyond Deco, the resulting exhibition, is on view in the Art Deco Museum and Gallery through July 17. Curated by local artist AnnaMaria Windisch Hunt, the exhibition features Miami Beach scenes executed in a wide range of styles and media. The exhibit also offers Hunt’s Beach Hut Series, ten paintings of the beach patrol huts that line Miami Beach’s shore, shown together as a group for the first time ever.
The Miami Design Preservation League is a non-profit preservation and arts organization founded in 1976. It is devoted to preserving, protecting and promoting the architectural, cultural, social, economic, and environmental integrity of the Miami Beach Architectural Historic District (Art Deco District) as well as other areas of the city and South Florida, wherever historic preservation is a concern. MDPL is the oldest Art Deco society in the world.
