The 1920 passage of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, granted women the right to vote. In 1971, the U.S. Congress designated August 26th as Women?s Equality Day to not only commemorate the passage of the 19th Amendment, but also to call attention to women?s continuing efforts toward full equality.

For three decades, Roxcy Bolton has been Florida's leading women's rights activist, instrumental in establishing the Rape Treatment Center, the first of its kind, at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami and organizing Florida's first Crime Watch meeting to help stem crime against women.
