President & CEO of Nicklaus Hospital
Miami Children’s Health System (MCH)
Dr. Kini is the a recipient of Modern Healthcare’s
CEO IT Achievement Award 2013.
The awards, co-sponsored by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), recognize healthcare CEOs who demonstrate leadership and a commitment to using IT to advance their organizations' goals. The judges for the Modern Healthcare award cited Dr. Kini’s "superlative patient engagement strategy and advocacy efforts at the state level," as well as "an innovative approach to utilizing smartphone applications to improve patient care and business processes."
Dr. Kini, is board certified in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and holds a Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration, from the corporate offices of Trinity Health in Novi, Michigan, where he served as Executive Vice President of Clinical Operations Improvement from 2004 to 2008. Dr. Kini did his training at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and served in upper level leadership positions with GE Healthcare Leadership Institute, GE Medical Information Technologies and with Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, where he held the position of Vice President of Clinical and Support Services.
Miami Children's is recognized among the nation’s best children’s hospitals. It is the only licensed specialty hospital for children in South Florida; ranked by Child magazine among the best children’s hospitals in the nation and is the only Florida pediatric hospital to be included in U.S. News & World Report’s 2007 listing of “America’s Best Children’s Hospitals.” It has also been designated an American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
