Description

MIAMI BEACH, FL (October 30, 2010) – Mango’s Tropical Café on Ocean Drive in South Beach is a true art experience for the senses. Guests enter Mangos, and begin a journey of art from the interior walls, draped in the world’s largest Haitian mural, titled "Paradise" to the surreal ceilings, paintings, sculptures, and collages. Mango houses one of the richest collections of Caribbean Art in Miami. "Mangos, born in a vision while swimming in the ocean one bright sunny day", said owner and artistic director, David Wallack, on his extensive collection of fine art in Mangos, "The Café has evolved into a showcase of art in all medias". Wallack commissioned the designs and artists for each bar, and the unique atmosphere of each private party room.

Guests enter to feast their eyes on the walls and ceilings, filled with primal jungles and dreamy skies. This sky, the two large side bars, and numerous framed paintings, were commissioned by Jude Thegenus, better known as Papaloko, whose work is born through trance committed to the material world. His ethereal paintings evoke the heart of the Haitian soul. The main bar at Mangos Café showcases a handmade Italian Glass Mosaic, which took over four months to construct, by Mosaic artist Ricardo Rodriguez, with conceptual design by David Wallack. The Mosaic Bar will be officially unveiled to the public at a private reception on December 2, 2010 at 6pm. On each corner of the main entrance, visitors discover the riotous collages of the evolution of Mangos Tropical Café as seen through the heart of the Cuban artists, Haydee, Sahara, and Michael Skull. These three-dimensional murals reflect the colors and passion of the Cuban Soul in Miami. Walk past the Main Bar, to the left, to discover the Mermaid Bar, designed by Haitian artist Renold Marcelin, "my oceans are filled with magical and musical sea creatures, celebrating their beginnings". Marcelin’s magic is present throughout Mangos Café.

Upstairs to the left is the Mojito Room, inspired by nights in old Havana. The centerpiece of this room is a wall and bar of copper jungle done by master sculptor,

Kim Brandel. Cuban artist Humberto Benitez’s paintings, including Entre Mangos y Mojitos, add to the heat of the sultry Latin vibe. Upstairs to the right is the Voodoo Room, is the dark and mysterious art of world renowned Haitian artist Edouard Duval-Carria. This World-Renowned artist brings forth the power of Vodoo in his paintings, collages and sculptures. This room will surely put a spell on you. On December 6, 2010, David Wallack will also display art from his Private Collection in the Voodoo Room.
