Description
2021's 2nd Annual American X History Fun Run is Saturday morning February 6th. Celebrate Cassius Clay's 1964 Heavyweight Title and metamorphosis to become The Greatest Muhammad Ali. Upon beating Sonny Liston at The Miami Beach Convention Center, Clay publicly announced that he'd drop his last name and took on Cassius X until legally changing his name to Muhammad Ali, widely considered America's most prolific 20th Century athlete.
The Miami Athletic Association invites you to Run, Walk, Bike or Cheer Saturday morning. Participants may bus [max 40] from Miami Beach City Hall by downloading and RSVP'ing to our title sponsor Run Adic's free workout. Board the bus 6am to visit Brownsville Miami's Hampton House Inn, where young Cassius Clay stayed while training at a Miami Beach boxing gym to which he would run 10 miles. The Hampton House Inn was made more famous recently in the Play & Movie "One Night in Miami". Some participants may opt for a 5-mile effort departing a 20th Street Miami boxing gym.
10-milers will follow in Muhammad Ali's young footsteps through Artistic Wynwood while everybody crosses our beautiful historic Venetian Causeway. Participants finish next to The Miami Beach Convention Center where this 1960 Olympic Gold Medalist won his 1st professional heavyweight championship and declared that he "shook up the world". The Miami Athletic Association would appreciate any Chamber of Commerce members greet our finishers with Cheers, then Conversation and Coffee at nearby Lincoln Eatery's XO Espresso who offers 20% off that morning for us.
For those who prefer to park their car at The Hampton House Inn, our bus will return to Brownsville {Time TBD}. Donations & Sponsorship opportunities to off-set our non-profit event are welcome. Any contributions above our bus cost will be donated to The Hampton House Inn Museum.
