Crowl is an aquatic ecologist with more than 30 years of experience working on interdisciplinary projects related to ecosystems science and aquatic ecology. He has been a Senior Scientist in the Luquillo LTER Program located in Puerto Rico since 1994. The LUQ LTER is part of a national network of sites designed to understand long-term dynamics of important global ecosystems. From 2009-2011\, he directed the Long-Term Ecological Research Program (LTER) for the National Science Foundation. In 2012\, he was awarded a $20 million grant to establish iUTAH\, a statewide effort to assist in building the human and research infrastructure needed to sustainably manage Utah's waters through the NSF EPSCoR Program. Most recently\, he and FIU collaborators have received $10 million from NSF for the Center of Research Excellence in Science and Technology (CREST) for Aquatic Chemistry and the Environment. Crowl was a Bullard Fellow at Harvard University and an Office of Research Professor at the University of Notre Dame. Crowl is the Founding Director of Florida International University's Institute of Environment\, an FIU Pre-eminent Program (environment.fiu.edu) that includes more than 135 faculty that provide fundamental and applied research on freshwater\, coastal and terrestrial ecosystems. He is the past President of the Association of Ecosystem Research Centers.\n\n\n\nDr. Obeysekera served as a member of the federal advisory committee which directed the development of the National Climate Assessment in 2014. He was also a co-author of the sea level rise projections report published by NOAA for the National Climate Assessment and served as a member of the Coastal Assessment Regional Scenario Working Group associated with the Department of Defense in the United States. Dr. Obeysekera serves as a co-director of the Florida Climate Institute.Dr. Obeysekera holds a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from University of Sri Lanka\, M. Eng. from University of Roorkee\, India\, and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University with specialization in water resources. Dr. Obeysekera has published over 55 research articles in numerous peer-reviewed journals. He is a recipient of the 2015 Norman Medal of the American Society of Civil Engineers for a technical paper that makes a definitive contribution in engineering. \n\n\n\nDr. Nancy Loman Scanlon is an Associate Professor at the Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Florida International University\, an author of numerous books and articles and a leader in the application and research of sustainable operating practices and climate change adaptation for the hospitality industry. Dr. Scanlon has over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry and education. Her experience includes an active industry career\, both operations and corporate\, with Hilton Hotels\, Interstate Hotels and Marriott International. In the area of 'Green Lodging Practices' she is the author of "An Analysis and Assessment of Environmental Operating Practices in Hotels and Resorts" and numerous articles on topics related to sustainability in the hospitality industry. Dr. Scanlon is chair of the Greater Miami & The Beaches Hotel Association Sustainability & Wellness Council.
