SUMMARY:Event at Village South's Miami Beach Coalition
DESCRIPTION:We are mailing out a special invitation to everyone that we work with in the community about the Joseph Califano event for February 18. He is the Chairman of The National Center for Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University. His work and research supports the following statement\, ?a family that eats together\, stays together? and the celebration of Family Day ? A Day to Eat Dinner with your Children. \n\n\n\n \n\nFirstly\, I would love to extend a personal invitation to our Miami Beach Coalition members for this event. I know many of them will gladly attend. \n\n\n\nFrom the research and findings related to the annual awareness campaign ?Family Day: A Day to Eat Dinner with your Children?\, Mr. Califano will be presenting his latest book regarding parenting in the teenage years. It is scheduled for next Thursday\, February 18\, 2010 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at South Miami Hospital ? Victor Clarke Center\, 6200 SW 73 Street\, South Miami. I am attaching event flyer.\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nABOUT THE AUTHOR\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nA father of five and grandfather of eight\, Joseph A. Califano\, Jr.\, is founder and chairman of The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University. Mr. Califano held various United States government positions and served from 1977 to 1979 as U.S. Secretary of Health\, Education\, and Welfare\, where he launched the nation's anti-smoking campaign. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nABOUT THE BOOK\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nBased on nearly two decades of research at The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University\, ?How to Raise a Drug-Free Kid: The Straight Dope For Parents? offers advice and information on how to prepare your child for crucial decision-making moments they will face about drugs\, alcohol and cigarettes. It covers many of the most daunting parenting topics\, including when and how to talk to your kids about drugs and alcohol\; how to respond when your child asks\, "Did you use drugs when you were my age?"\; how to know when your child is most at risk\; and how to prepare your child for the freedoms and perils of college.
