SUMMARY:Earth Miami on Jungle Island
DESCRIPTION:On April 17th and 18th\, Jungle Island kicks off Miami's Earth Day initiatives with Earth Miami\, an event that will engage and inform the South Florida community about environmentally-conscious initiatives and ways they can improve our environment. One of the only entirely sustainable entertainment facilities\, Jungle Island is committed to preserving the environment. Remarkably\, the park?s entire landscape was developed and is maintained without the use of any artificial fertilizers or pesticides\n\n \n\nDuring the two-day event\, several interactive and educational stations will be positioned around the Jungle including a water-weight station presented by WSI where guests can guess their weight in water\; eco-friendly vehicle test drives courtesy of Chevy\; Green EcoSys' conversion of sea water into drinking water using solar and wind power\, and many more activities. 500 guests will also be able to take home their very own plant seedlings\, courtesy of The Home Depot\, to make their own community a bit greener. \n\n\n\nAdditionally\, Green Monkey Yoga will be teaching a special yoga demonstration for guests of all ages to better connect with themselves and the planet. Guests can enjoy the Piag Museum?s floating art installation titled ?Earth and Water: Our Planet\, Our Life.?\n\n \n\nJungle Island?s renowned horticulturalist\, Jeff Shimonski\, will host special eco-tours of the Jungle\, revealing how such a lush landscape can be created and maintained organically. Twice daily performances by The Earthman Project will highlight simple ways children and families can make a positive difference for our environment. \n\n \n\nTo reduce the carbon footprint of the weekend's activities\, carbon credits have been purchased to offset the carbon emissions created. The dollars generated from the sale of carbon credits helps environmental organizations plant additional trees\, produce renewable energy\, and reverse deforestation.\n\n\n\nIf guests bring a clean\, empty can or bottle to recycle they will receive a $20 admission to Jungle Island during Earth Miami. Jungle Island will donate a portion of the proceeds collected during Earth Miami to the Everglades Foundation. For additional information\, please visit www.earthmiami.org.
