DESCRIPTION:November 11: Transit of Mercury with NASA\n\nJoin us as we celebrate the first planet in our Solar System\, Mercury! On November 11\, Mercury will do a transit in front of the Sun for the first time since 2016! This relatively rare occurrence happens only about 13 times every 100 years. Throughout the day you will enjoy real-time live views of the transit as broadcasted globally from a telescope on the rooftop of Frost Science\, plus discover amazing facts about this small planet.\n\n\n\nIn addition to the live streaming of the transit in our MeLaB exhibition\, NASA scientist Brian Day and Jet Propulsion Laboratory scientist Emily Law will lead special presentations focused on Mercury\, including a guided tour and introduction to the Mercury Trek portal as well as videos on NASA's Messenger Mission to Mercury (2004   2015) and an update on the most recent mission to Mercury\, launched in 2018\, from the European Space Agency and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency\, BepiColombo. Lastly\, don't miss your chance to touch Moon and Mars rocks!\n\n\n\nMember Morning Exclusive:\n\nJoin us for a special Member Morning on November 11 as we open 30 minutes early\, exclusively for active Frost Science members. You'll have the opportunity to engage with NASA scientists and experience an exclusive first viewing of the 2019 Transit of Mercury event from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.   before we open to the public. The morning will also include some members-only perks. Admission to this Member Morning is free and only open to members and their guests.\n\n\n\nPre-registration is requested but not required. All members must have a valid membership card and show a photo ID upon entrance. Only those listed on the membership account will be permitted into the event. Accounts with guest privileges will be allowed the appropriate number of guests to accompany the member. Please note that only MeLaB and the Observation Deck will be open early\, all other exhibitions will open when the museum opens to the public at 9:30 a.m.\n\n\n\nIn partnership with NASA.
